Lessons Learned so far

Collaboration and coordination between Town Boards, Committees and Administration is essential to foster consensus on policy and priorities and to minimize duplication of effort

  • Example:  Board of Health and Select Board meet jointly to stay on tip of the evolving PFAs issue

Public outreach on major initiatives allows the inclusion of community feedback earlier in the planning process.  Combining community wisdom with technical expertise yields the best results.

  • Example: Coastal Resilience project open houses on Easy Street Basin and Francis Beach

It’s important to identify and define problems, but more important to focus on solutions

The Select Board’s job includes summarizing the components of complex issues into comprehensible narratives that explain the “why” of our decisions.
